Primary Health Care
The role of primary health care is very important in achieving health for all. WHO states by providing care in the community as well as care through the community, PHC addresses not only individual and family health needs, but also the broader issue of public health and the needs of defined populations.
The principles in primary health services first outlined in the Declaration of Alma-Ata in 1978, namely recommending strategies to reduce disparities in health status and unequal access to health services. Then in 2018 global leaders ratified the Astana declaration and take the tagline " Primary healthcare means having the health workers you trust. Primary care is the care you need and is right in the heart of your community. We cannot achieve universal health coverage or the sustainable health development without primary healthcare". It aims to achieve health and well-being for all,leaving no one behind.
The transformation of primary care also is the main pillar in the Health System transformation of the Indonesian to create a healthy, productive, independent and equity. Puskesmas exists as a primary health care strategy to overcome the problem of unequal service and disparities in the health status of the population. As well as being the most strategic "health service unit" in the health service system in Indonesia.
CHEPS actively contributes to various research, consultancies and policy formulation to strengthen primary health care services.
