UPDATE AND DISSEMINATION CMYP 2020-2024, INDONESIA 2020
Immunization is one of the rights of children that must be given and guaranteed by the Government in accordance with the law. Therefore, the Government has committed to ensuring the sustainability of the immunization program. This is reinforced by the inclusion of immunization programs in one of the priority health programs and is in the National Medium Term Development Plan (RPJMN) 2020 - 2024.
At the end of 2019, the document "Comprehensive Multi Year Plan of Indonesia's National Immunization Program, 2020 - 2024" has been completed. cMYP is a strategic plan and as a reference for the activities and sustainability of immunization programs at both the national and five-yearly levels. Over time, in early 2020 Indonesia faced the COVID-19 pandemic situation that impacted the health sector as well as all other sectors. This has certainly caused disruption of all health services, ranging from temporary closures and/or delays in immunization services in posyandu and all facilities. This is certainly also a challenge in efforts to improve Indonesia's health and development, including immunization coverage in 2020.
Immunization coverage by 2020 is below the national target. Posyandu and puskesmas are primary health care facilities that are the main forces in improving the health status of mothers and children. About 84% of health facilities with immunization services experienced significant disruption due to the COVID-19 pandemic and government policies in handling pandemics. Disruption of immunization services is caused by various reasons, including mobility restriction policies, understanding of COVID-19 pandemic governance guidelines, the magnitude of the risk of COVID-19 transmission in posyandu and health centers, lack of funds due to the transfer of support to the COVID-19 pandemic response plan, transportation disruption due to travel restrictions, school closures, physical distancing, and so on.
The Ministry of Health together with the World Health Organization (WHO) and the UKK LPPKM FKM UI – CHEPS felt the need to conduct studies aimed to update and dissemination a 5-year plan (cMYP) for immunization program in Indonesia in the year 2020-2024: (1) to update situational analysis on immunization program; (2) to update strategic areas for the cMYP and costing; (3) to finalize updated version of cMYP (2020-2024) for Indonesia; (4) to disseminate updated cMYP National Immunization Program 2020-2024 at national and 10 selected provinces.
