Media Briefing The Economic Burden of Diabetes and The Innovative Policy
The dissemination of The Economic Burden of Diabetes based on Cost of Illness Diabetes study, conducted on November 13th, 2020. The Moderator of this event was dr. Mariya Mubarika (Expert Staff Minister of Health RI).
Prof Budi Hidayat explain about the result of Diabetes Research, especially the study entitled ”Direct medical cost of Type 2 diabetes mellitus and its associated complications in Indonesia”. This study describes the burden of medical costs on T2DM patients and the financial consequences borne by the JKN program. Where the total cost of treating T2DM and its complications reached USD 576 million in 2016, with 74% of the cost used for the management of sufferers of diabetes-related complications. Treatment costs Hospitalization and specialist visits represented 56% and 38% of total costs, respectively.
BPJS Kesehatan present the topic about “Current Diabetes Situation & Spending in JKN”. Followed by Prof.DR.dr.Ketut Suastika, Sp.PD-KEMD from PERKENI speak about The “Optimal Treatment to Prevent Complications: Diabetes Management Consensus 2019”.
