Prof. dr. Ascobat Gani, MPH, Dr.PH

He is a well-known Health Economists focusing on national and local health development. He highlights the importance of targeting the poor in Universal Health Coverage (UHC) included the provision of financial protection to all citizens to use medical care services (demand side), access to appropriate and quality medical services (supply side), and access to effective public health interventions. He graduated from Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Indonesia (1975).

He received MPH (1978) in School of Public Health, University of Hawaii, Honolulu, USA. and Dr.PH (1982) from School of Hygiene and Public Health, Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore, USA. He has significant contribution in supervising Ministry of Health in developing local health development policy such as advocate MoH to increase the total number of health operational fund (BOK) for public primary health care (Puskesmas). He also has been working as Director in Health Development Planning and Management (HDPM) Project, supported by USAID in collaboration with Faculty of PH-UI and MOH, and as Consultant in Family Health and Nutrition Project Development, supported by Bureau of Planning/Asian Development Bank. 1996.
